FootActive is a well-known retailer of orthotic insoles and footwear accessories with thriving online stores in the UK, Spain and France. As their customer base grew, they started to notice friction points in the shopping experience. That’s where Envisage Digital comes in!

We improved FootActive’s mobile shopping with better filtering, a sticky ‘Add to Basket,’ and a seamless one-page checkout. 

We also implemented hreflang for international SEO and, in September 2025, launched a new German store alongside their UK, Spanish and French sites.

The Challenge

Mobile users in particular were finding it difficult to filter products on category pages, making browsing more time-consuming than it needed to be. The Add to Basket button wasn’t always visible at key moments, which meant missed opportunities to convert. And once customers reached checkout, the multi-step process often led to abandoned baskets.

Behind the scenes, there were technical SEO hurdles too. Because the same categories and products appeared across all store views, Google needed to be clearly told that these were translations of the same pages, not duplicates. This required a precise hreflang setup across every store view: a complicated and time consuming task.

On top of that, FootActive was preparing to launch a new German store, so they needed a strong foundation for both user experience and international SEO to ensure the expansion went smoothly

The Solution

Working closely with FootActive, we tackled both the customer-facing and technical challenges.

On mobile, we redesigned category page filtering to make it easier for shoppers to find what they need. A sticky Add to Basket CTA was introduced so customers always had a clear way to convert, no matter where they were on the page. We also reimagined the checkout, condensing it into a one-page flow.

At the same time, we implemented a robust hreflang strategy across all store views. This told Google exactly how the translated categories related to one another, boosting SEO performance while avoiding duplicate content issues.

Finally, we prepared and launched a dedicated German store view, joining the UK, Spanish and French versions already in place. This opened FootActive to a whole new market while keeping everything consistent under one brand.

The Results

The improvements have made a real difference. Customers now enjoy a cleaner, faster shopping journey, from browsing through to checkout. 

Conversion opportunities have increased thanks to clearer calls-to-action and a simplified purchase flow. FootActive’s SEO is now better aligned for international growth, ensuring their multilingual stores perform strongly in search.

With the German storefront live, FootActive has successfully expanded into four major European markets: and is now well placed to continue its growth.
